How to use it
- Choose or drop one or more JFIF files.
- Adjust the options, such as quality or background colour, if shown.
- Convert, then download each PNG file or all of them as a ZIP.
How it works
JFIF is the same JPEG image data with a different file extension, used by some browsers and Windows when saving images from the web.
PNG is a lossless format with full transparency support. It is ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges, but photos are much larger than as JPG or WebP.
PNG is lossless, so the result keeps every pixel of the decoded JFIF image; it may be larger than the original. Converting re-encodes the image, which removes EXIF metadata such as camera details and GPS location.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. The browser decodes and re-encodes every image on your device, so the files never leave your computer or phone.
Will converting JFIF to PNG reduce quality?
PNG is lossless, so the result keeps every pixel of the decoded JFIF image; it may be larger than the original.
How many files can I convert at once?
It depends on your plan's image limits, shown on the Pricing page. A free account allows more files per batch than visiting without an account.
Privacy
Images are converted in your browser and never uploaded. Only anonymous usage events (no file data) are recorded if you allowed statistics.
