SVG to PNG Converter

Paste SVG code or choose an .svg file, set the output size, and download a PNG. The SVG is rendered by your own browser and never uploaded.

Runs in your browser No sign-up

or drop it here. The file stays on your device.

How to use it

  1. Choose an .svg file (up to 5 MB) or paste SVG code into the box.
  2. Pick a scale factor, such as 2× for high-density screens, or enter an exact width in pixels.
  3. Keep the background transparent or choose a colour.
  4. Check the preview and download the PNG, or WebP if your browser supports it.

How it works

SVG is a vector format: shapes are described mathematically, so they can be drawn sharply at any size. PNG is a grid of pixels, which is what many apps, documents, email clients and social networks require. This tool draws the SVG with your browser's own renderer at the size you choose and saves the pixels as PNG.

The starting size comes from the SVG's width and height attributes. Absolute units are converted to pixels (1 in = 96 px, 1 pt = 1.33 px). If only one dimension or none is given, the viewBox provides the proportions and size; without either, browsers use 300 × 150. Relative values such as 100% cannot be resolved for a standalone file, so the viewBox is used instead.

The SVG is loaded as an image, which is the safe way to render untrusted files: scripts are not executed and external resources such as linked images, web fonts and CSS files are not fetched. Text that relies on a font you do not have installed will be drawn with a fallback font. The XML is checked first, so a typing mistake shows a clear error instead of a blank image.

Examples

App icon from an SVG logo

A logo with viewBox="0 0 64 64" exported at width 1024 gives a 1024 × 1024 PNG with crisp edges, ready for an app store or a favicon generator.

Retina image for a website

An illustration that is 400 × 300 at 1× exported with scale 2 gives an 800 × 600 PNG that stays sharp on high-density displays.

Slide or document

Exporting a chart SVG at scale 3 with a white background produces a PNG that can be pasted into presentation software that does not accept SVG.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my text in the wrong font?

Fonts linked from the web are not loaded when an SVG is drawn as an image. Fonts installed on your device are used if they match. To be sure, convert text to outlines in your design program or embed the font in the SVG as a data URL.

Why are linked images missing?

Images referenced by URL inside the SVG are blocked for security when rendering SVG as an image. Embedded images (data: URLs) work.

What is the maximum output size?

Up to 16,384 px per side and 50 megapixels in total. Very large exports of complex SVGs can take a few seconds and may fail on phones with little memory.

Is it safe to convert an SVG from an unknown source?

Rendering it here is safe: SVG drawn as an image cannot run scripts or load external resources. The converted PNG contains only pixels.
