Checking your plan…

How to use it

  1. Choose all the images you want to convert. With Pro you can select up to your plan's batch size at once.
  2. Pick the output format and quality. WebP at 80% is a good default for websites.
  3. Optionally enter a maximum width and height to scale large images down.
  4. Select Convert, follow the progress, then download the ZIP or individual images.

How it works

Each image is decoded by your browser, scaled down if it is larger than the maximum size, and encoded again in the chosen format. Images are processed one after another to keep memory use low, so a large batch can take a while on slower devices. You can stop the batch at any time; images already converted remain available.

The formats on offer depend on what your browser can encode: JPEG and PNG work everywhere, WebP in all current browsers, and AVIF only in some. “Keep each image's format” re-encodes JPEG as JPEG, PNG as PNG and so on; GIF and BMP become PNG because browsers cannot write them.

Phone photos are turned the right way up from their EXIF orientation before saving, and EXIF metadata is then removed. Animated images keep only their first frame. The ZIP archive is not compressed further, because the images already are.

This tool is part of the Pro plan; the number and size of images per batch follow your plan's limits.

Examples

Product photos for an online shop

60 camera JPEGs of about 5 MB each, converted to WebP at 80% with a maximum width of 1600 px, typically total a few dozen megabytes instead of 300 MB.

Screenshots for documentation

A folder of PNG screenshots converted to PNG with a maximum width of 1200 px keeps text crisp and shrinks files from full-screen captures.

Frequently asked questions

Why is this a Pro tool?

Converting large batches needs much higher file limits than the free plan offers. The single-image tools, such as Image Converter and Image Compressor, remain free.

Are my images uploaded for conversion?

No. Conversion happens in your browser. Your plan is only checked to unlock the tool.

Why is AVIF not offered?

Your browser cannot encode AVIF from a canvas. The tool only lists formats that it can actually produce on your device.

Why did some images get larger?

Images that were already well compressed, or PNGs converted to PNG, can grow when re-encoded. Check the per-image sizes in the list and keep the originals where that happens.

Privacy

Images are decoded, converted and zipped in your browser. They are not uploaded, stored or included in analytics; only an anonymous event that the tool was used is counted. Your plan status is loaded from the site's account service.
