How to use it
- Type the number of Fahrenheit in the first field.
- Read the result in Kelvin. You can also type in the Kelvin field to convert the other way.
- Use the table of common values, or copy the result with one click.
How it works
Formula: K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15
Temperature scales have different zero points, so the conversion adds or subtracts an offset as well as scaling. That is why doubling a temperature in Fahrenheit does not double it in Kelvin.
Results use the exact definitions of both units. The page shows up to 6 decimal places; copy the value for full precision.
Examples
-459.67 °F in K
-459.67 °F = 0 K, using K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15.
32 °F in K
32 °F = 273.15 K, using K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15.
77 °F in K
77 °F = 298.15 K, using K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Fahrenheit to Kelvin?
Use the formula K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15. For example, -459.67 °F = 0 K.
How do I convert Kelvin back to Fahrenheit?
Use the reverse formula °F = (K − 273.15) × 9/5 + 32. For example, 1 K = -457.87 °F.
How accurate is this converter?
It uses the exact legal definitions of the units, so the only rounding is in the number of decimals shown. Copy the result to get the full value.
