How to use it

  1. Choose the images for your animation; you can add more later.
  2. Drag the rows or use the arrows to put the frames in order.
  3. Set the size, how images fit, the background colour, the delay and the looping.
  4. Select Create GIF, check the preview and download the file.

How it works

Every image is decoded by your browser, drawn onto a canvas of the chosen size and reduced to at most 256 colours, then written as one frame of the GIF with the gifenc encoder. Images are decoded one at a time while encoding, so even long sequences of camera photos do not need much memory.

Fit inside shows the whole image and fills the rest with the background colour; Fill and crop covers the whole frame and cuts off the edges; Stretch ignores the aspect ratio. The background colour also replaces transparent areas, because this tool writes GIFs without transparency.

GIF stores delays in hundredths of a second, so delays are rounded to 10 ms, and browsers slow down anything below 20 ms. “Play a set number of times” writes a loop count into the file; most browsers and apps respect it, but some always loop.

Limits: up to 200 frames, sides of 16 to 1000 px, and at most 120 million pixels across all frames. Your plan's limits for number and size of image files apply.

Examples

Before and after

Two photos at 600 × 400, Fill and crop, 1000 ms per frame and looping forever give a simple before/after comparison.

Step-by-step tutorial

Eight screenshots with per-frame delays (1500 ms for steps with text, 600 ms for the rest), Fit inside on a white background, played three times.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The images are read and the GIF is built in your browser. Only your Pro status is checked with the site.

Can the GIF be transparent?

Not in this tool. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose, which avoids the rough edges GIF's on/off transparency produces.

Why do colours look grainy or banded?

A GIF frame can hold only 256 colours. Photos with smooth gradients lose some detail. Choosing 256 colours gives the best result; fewer colours make the file smaller.

Can I use an animated GIF as a frame?

Only its first frame is used, because the browser decodes animated images to a single still picture.

Privacy

Images are decoded and the GIF is encoded in your browser. The images and the GIF are not uploaded, stored or included in analytics; only an anonymous event that the tool was used is counted. Your plan status is loaded from the site's account service.
