How to use it

  1. Paste Markdown or open an .md file.
  2. Choose the page size, orientation, margins and font size.
  3. Select Create PDF.
  4. Download the PDF.

How it works

The Markdown is read with the marked parser (GitHub-flavoured Markdown: tables, task lists, strikethrough) and laid out on pages with embedded Noto fonts: headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, fenced and indented code blocks in a monospaced font, nested bulleted and numbered lists, task lists with check boxes, blockquotes, tables with column alignment and a header row repeated on each page, horizontal rules and links (clickable in the PDF).

Images are included only when they are embedded in the Markdown as data: URIs (PNG, JPEG, and GIF/WebP converted on your device). Images referenced by a web address are not downloaded, so they are left out and their alt text is shown instead. Raw HTML blocks are converted with the same rules as the HTML to PDF tool; simple inline tags such as <b>, <i>, <code> and <br> are honoured. Scripts are never run.

The layout is a simple, readable document style; custom CSS, fonts and colours are not applied. Characters missing from the Noto fonts are drawn as small images with your device's fonts.

Examples

Sharing a README

Paste a project README with install steps and a configuration table to send a printable PDF to someone who does not use GitHub.

Meeting notes

Notes written in a Markdown app, with a task list of action items, become a one-page A4 PDF with ticked and open boxes.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my images missing?

Only images embedded as data: URIs are used. Images loaded from web addresses are not downloaded, for privacy and because the tool works without contacting other servers. Their alt text appears instead.

Can I use my own CSS or fonts?

No. The PDF uses a fixed, readable layout with Noto Sans and Noto Sans Mono. You can choose the page size, margins and font size.

Are links clickable in the PDF?

Yes, web and email links are clickable. Links to other places in the same document are kept as text.

Does it support Turkish, Greek or Cyrillic text?

Yes, these are in the embedded Noto fonts. Scripts that are not, such as Chinese or emoji, are drawn as images with your device's fonts.

Privacy

The Markdown is converted and the PDF is created in your browser. The fonts are loaded from this site; nothing you enter is uploaded, stored or included in analytics. Only an anonymous event that the tool was used is counted.
