How to use it
- Type the number of Bits that were cheered or that you want to buy.
- Read what the streamer receives and the approximate viewer cost.
- Optionally enter a dollar amount to see how many Bits that takes.
- If the bundle prices you see on Twitch differ, edit them; every result updates.
How it works
Twitch pays streamers who can receive Bits (Affiliates and Partners) US$0.01 for every Bit cheered in their channel. 100 Bits are therefore worth $1.00 to the streamer, 1,000 Bits $10.00. This is what Twitch credits before payout fees and any tax withholding, which depend on the streamer's payout method and tax status.
Viewers pay more per Bit than the streamer receives, because the bundle price includes Twitch's share and payment costs. The calculator finds the cheapest combination of bundles that gives at least the number of Bits entered, using the prices in the editable table. Larger bundles are usually cheaper per Bit, so sometimes buying a slightly bigger bundle costs less than the exact amount.
The default bundle prices are an example of Twitch's US desktop prices and are not guaranteed to be current. Prices in the mobile apps, in other countries and with sales tax are different, so treat the viewer cost as an estimate and replace the prices with the ones Twitch shows you.
Examples
A 500-Bit cheer
500 Bits give the streamer $5.00. With the default prices a viewer pays $7.00 for a 500-Bit bundle.
How many Bits for $50?
Enter 50 in Dollars to Bits: the streamer needs 5,000 Bits cheered. At the default prices the 5,000-Bit bundle costs a viewer $64.40.
Buying 1,400 Bits
Fourteen 100-Bit bundles cost $19.60, which is cheaper than one 1,500-Bit bundle at $19.95, so the calculator picks the 100-Bit bundles.
Frequently asked questions
How much is 100 Bits worth?
100 Bits are worth $1.00 to the streamer who receives them. A viewer pays more than that to buy 100 Bits; the default example price is $1.40 before tax.
Does the streamer get the full value of the Bits?
The streamer receives $0.01 per Bit cheered. The difference between what the viewer paid and that amount stays with Twitch and the payment provider.
Why is the viewer cost only approximate?
Bit prices vary by platform, region, currency, promotions and tax. The calculator uses the prices in the table, which you can edit to match what Twitch currently shows you.
Are payout fees or taxes included?
No. The streamer amount is what Twitch credits per Bit. Payout fees, currency conversion and tax withholding depend on the streamer's own payout settings.
