How to use it
- Type one or more keywords that describe your Shorts, separated by commas or new lines. Any language works.
- Optionally choose a niche, add a location or brand tag, and set how many hashtags you want. Click a suggestion to leave it out.
- Copy the hashtags separated by spaces, or copy a caption block with your caption and the hashtags together.
How it works
The same YouTube rules apply to Shorts at the time of writing: up to three hashtags can be shown with the title, and a video with more than 60 hashtags has all of them ignored. #Shorts is optional; YouTube has said it is not required for a video to be treated as a Short.
Two or three hashtags that name what happens in the Short are usually enough. Keep them relevant to the video; check YouTube's current Help Center, as guidance changes.
How the suggestions are made: your keywords are cleaned (letters of any alphabet, digits and underscores are kept; spaces, punctuation and emoji are removed) and expanded into variants such as English singular and plural forms and combinations with your niche, location and format. Hand-picked English tags for the chosen niche are added, duplicates are merged regardless of case, and the list is ordered from your exact keywords to broad tags. Nothing is looked up online, so no popularity figures are shown: check how a tag is actually used on YouTube before relying on it.
Examples
YouTube Shorts: “guitar riff”
Keywords “guitar riff” with the Music niche and the default settings give:
#GuitarRiff #Shorts #GuitarRiffs
YouTube Shorts: “latte art”
Keywords “latte art”, the Food and recipes niche and the location “Melbourne” give:
#LatteArt #Shorts #LatteArtMelbourne
Frequently asked questions
How many hashtags should I use on YouTube Shorts?
This generator selects 3 by default for YouTube Shorts and suggests at most 15; you can raise the maximum to 60 if you need to. More hashtags rarely help: keep the ones that describe the content precisely. Platform guidance changes, so check YouTube's current help pages.
Where do I put the hashtags on YouTube?
Add hashtags to the Short's title or description when you upload it. Tick “Add #Shorts” if you still want that tag.
Does the generator use AI, trends or real post counts?
No. The suggestions come only from the words you type, simple spelling rules and a hand-written list of tags for each niche. The tool does not contact YouTube or any other service, so it cannot know how popular a tag is, and it never shows invented numbers.
