How to use it
- Choose an image from your device, or pick a blank template and its colours.
- Type the top and bottom text. Long lines wrap automatically.
- Adjust the size, colours and outline, add more text boxes if you need them, and drag captions into place.
- Click Download PNG to save the meme.
How it works
Captions are drawn on a canvas in your browser in the classic meme style: bold condensed capitals with a dark outline, so they stay readable on any background. The font is Impact where it is installed (Windows and macOS); other systems fall back to similar heavy fonts such as Arial Black, so the look can vary slightly between devices.
Text size is set as a percentage of the image width, so captions keep the same proportions on small and large images. Lines wrap at 92% of the width. The top caption hangs from its position, the bottom caption sits on it, and extra text boxes are centred on theirs.
Uploaded images larger than 2400 pixels on a side are scaled down for the meme. Animated GIFs use their first frame. The blank templates are plain colour fields drawn by the tool; no third-party meme images are included, so make sure you have the right to use any image you upload.
Examples
Classic two-line meme
Upload a photo, type the setup as top text and the punchline as bottom text, keep the white text with black outline and download.
Two-panel comparison
Choose the two-panel template with a light top and a dark bottom, then write the before and after in the top and bottom captions.
Label parts of an image
Add a few text boxes, make them smaller and drag each one next to the object it describes.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the font look different on my phone?
Impact is not installed on most Android and Linux devices, so a similar heavy font is used instead. The downloaded PNG contains whatever font your device drew.
Is there a watermark?
No. The PNG contains only your image and text.
Can I use popular meme templates?
The tool does not include copyrighted meme images. You can upload any image you have the right to use.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything is drawn in your browser and the PNG is created on your device.
Privacy
The image and captions are processed only in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
