How to use it
- Choose or drop the PDF files you want to combine. You can add more files at any time.
- Check the page count shown for each file and put the files in order by dragging the rows or using the up and down buttons.
- Select Merge PDFs and wait for the progress bar to finish.
- Download the merged PDF.
How it works
The tool copies every page of each file, in the order shown, into a new PDF using the open-source pdf-lib library. Pages keep their size, orientation, text, images and vector content, so text stays selectable and nothing is re-compressed.
Some document-level features belong to a single file and are not carried over to the merged result: bookmarks (the outline), document metadata such as title and author, and interactive form fields may be missing or stop working. Links inside a page usually keep working; links that jump to another page may not.
Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be merged, because they would have to be decrypted first. The tool marks such files and asks you to remove them. How many files you can merge at once and how large each may be depends on your plan.
Examples
Application documents
A cover letter (1 page), a CV (2 pages) and two certificates (1 page each) become one 5-page PDF in the order you arrange them, ready to upload to a job portal that accepts a single file.
Monthly invoices
Twelve monthly invoice PDFs can be merged into one yearly file for your accountant. Add them all at once and drag any file that ended up in the wrong place.
Frequently asked questions
Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without converting them to images or re-compressing them, so text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.
Why is one of my files marked as encrypted?
The PDF has a password or usage restrictions. The tool cannot decrypt files. Open it in a PDF reader where you know the password, save or print an unprotected copy, and add that copy instead.
Are bookmarks and form fields kept?
Not reliably. The merged file contains the pages and their content, but bookmarks, document metadata and interactive form fields from the original files may be lost.
How many files can I merge?
The number of files per merge and the size of each file depend on your plan. If you go over a limit, the tool tells you and does not process the files.
Privacy
Your PDF files are read and merged inside your browser with JavaScript. They are not uploaded, stored or included in analytics; only an anonymous event that the tool was used is counted.
